Labiaplasty (Labial Rejuvenation, Labial Reduction)
Some women have an excess of tissue at their labia minora (“inner lips”) of the external genitalia. This excess can be congenital, but it can also become exacerbated by pregnancy and aging.
A lthough most women present for cosmetic reasons, there are those who have significant excess tissue which interferes with sexual activity, causes a higher frequency of urinary tract and yeast infections, and results in localized irritation and discomfort, especially while wearing clothing.
A labiaplasty procedure, which is a form of vaginal rejuvenation, involves removing the excess tissue to achieve both a cosmetic and functional improvement. Care is required to ensure that the proper procedure is done to maintain blood supply, sensation, and diminish irritating scarring.
